There are thousands of Warhammer events around the world, but few can match the sheer size of the AdeptiCon Team Tournament. The AdeptiCon Team Tournament brings 400 or so players together every year to engage in a trial of tactics, great hobby and camaraderie as teams go head-to-head. We caught up with the AdeptiCon team to ask about what they have planned for this year’s Team Tournament:
The Warhammer 40,000 Team Tournament remains one of AdeptiCon’s centerpiece events, attracting teams of Warhammer 40,000 players from all corners of the galaxy/globe. It showcases all of the hobby’s aspects, from converting and painting armies to displaying tactical acumen on the tabletop. We recently had the opportunity to talk with one of the event’s more storied teams about their return in 2018 and what it is about the tournament that keeps them coming back…
AdeptiCon Media Servitor: Our Astropaths have heard whispers in the Warp of your return for 2018. Can you confirm this?
Team Kebek: For the eighth year in a row, Team Kebek will be throwing down at the Warhammer 40,000 Team Tournament at AdeptiCon. Once again, we aim to bring a cool display and some awesome miniatures to push around the battlefields of the 41st Millennium in epic combat against worthy opponents.
AMS: Eight years is a good run.
TK: We started in 2011 I think. Our original roster was me (JF), Eric, Dominique and Danick. For the last few years, we’ve traded Dominique and Danick for my brother Philippe and my friend Sam.
AMS: What is it about the Team Tournament that keeps you guys returning?
TK: The Team Tournament is the ultimate showcase of Warhammer 40,000 fandom. It is, in my opinion, the best place to see some of the most dazzling armies and displays alongside the most dedicated players in North America and beyond. While we love to use the event as a place to challenge our own hobby skills, it’s really the spectacle on display that attracts us to the Team Tournament.
Over the years, we’ve also made so many friends at this and other events that the tournament is now in large part a family reunion. To meet with and hang out with people who are just as eager to see our work as we are to see theirs and then maybe throw down for a game and some laughs, it’s the best thing in the world.
AMS: Well, we look forward to seeing you again in March. Get painting!
While the Warhammer 40,000 Team Tournament is now sold out (better luck next year!) the waitlist is open – so new spaces may open up based on demand or others dropping out. There’s still space left at the other Warhammer 40,000 events, too, including the Warhammer 40,000 Championship and Warhammer 40,000 Youngbloods – if you’re looking to attend AdeptiCon this year, make sure to grab your tickets before they run out!
