When we heard about Blood & Glory, we knew we had to share the good news. A weekend full of games, seminars and Games Workshop goodness only a stone’s throw from Warhammer World? Count us in! 2017 is set to be the biggest Blood & Glory yet, bringing the scale of popular American conventions like the NOVA Open and the LVO to the UK. Find out what you can look forward to from Blood & Glory organiser Ben himself:
Ben: Hello Warhammer Fans! I’m Ben Curry, the host of the Bad Dice Podcast and organiser of Blood & Glory, the UK’s only independent gaming convention dedicated to Games Workshop games. Today I’m here to tell you all about some of the fantastic things that will be happening at Blood & Glory, which takes place in Derby, UK on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of November.
Blood & Glory is a Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Warhammer 40,000, Horus Heresy and Shadespire event that I have been organising for over 5 years. In the past, we have concentrated on Warhammer Age of Sigmar (and Warhammer Fantasy Battles before that) with the 2016 event being the first tournament in the world to host Warhammer Live outside of their Warhammer World home.
In 2017, we are expanding to an amazing new venue that has space to include pretty much anything related to Games Workshop gaming. What this allows us to do is invite Games Workshop into the event and be the first independent event in the UK that has full Games Workshop studio support.
I love seeing the news and new release seminars, but usually that means staying up super late to try to catch all the news coming out of all the huge conventions in the US, so I set myself the goal of bringing that over here and turning Blood & Glory into the sort of event that people watch from home and make plans to travel to. AdeptiCon, Nova Open, LVO, GenCon and lots of other huge tournaments in the US have hosted the Games Workshop studio and now we have an event in the UK for that too
Blood & Glory is on for three days. Friday will see open gaming and smaller side events, while the weekend features two days of matched play gaming. This leaves the evenings free to hold some pretty exciting and exclusive seminars.
Friday evening sees ‘The Pete and Andy Show’, as it has become known! Pete Foley and Andy Smillie get together to talk about the news and new releases from the studio over the next few months. Previously in this kind of seminar, we saw a preview of Shadespire a good 7 or 8 months prior to release, a new edition of Warhammer 40,000 was revealed and, most recently, at the Nova Open they showed off models and information about next year’s Warhammer Age of Sigmar releases – so this is certainly not one to be missed.
On Saturday night, we will be getting the chance to meet and talk to members of the Design Studio. If you have questions on how miniatures are made, books are written and armies are painted, then this is one that you need to get to.
Both of these seminars will be held at times that let you get all your gaming in and still attend. Tickets are extremely limited, with only 50 places, and free to players who have entered any of the two-day events at Blood & Glory. It will be £10 if you want to come along just to catch the seminars.
You can get your seminar tickets (both free and paid), and also sign up for any of the Blood & Glory events at bloodandglory.baddice.co.uk/shop and if you have any questions about the event, you can use the contact form on that website.
Sounds great! Places are limited, so don’t miss out your chance to take part in this exciting event.
