Gaming at Warhammer Fest

Warhammer Fest is fast approaching, and this year it’s playing host to loads of gaming events (and so much more). John Bracken, from Warhammer World’s Events Team, is with us today to tell you all about what’s on across the weekend. You can also download the event packs for all four events below to see what’s required before you get your ticket. Take it away, John:

John: This year at Warhammer Fest, the Warhammer World Events Team will be running a host of exciting gaming events for players who want to indulge in some narrative and matched play over the weekend. We’ll also be giving everyone generous breaks between games to relax, refresh, and check out some the content that will be on display around Warhammer Fest.

Of course, this means that if you do buy a ticket to any of the events, you not only get a weekend of games but access to all the fun of Warhammer Fest when you’re not rolling dice!

So without further ado, let’s talk about the various events we’re hosting:

This is the epic showdown between the top players from the three previous heats – all of which sold out instantly. Only the greatest general will stand triumphant after the last dice are rolled, and after nearly a year of battling to get to this spot, there’s no doubt that these will be some of most tactical and nail-biting games of Warhammer 40,000 to be found anywhere. With points available for having a great looking army, and sportsmanship to boot, it’s a far less cutthroat affair than you might imagine, and you can expect laughter and camaraderie from the top tables, as well as stunning armies to behold.

Many are the tales of heroism that grace the great halls and taverns of Middle-earth, and we plan to add a few more with our Battle Companies event. Battle Companies is a fast-paced, immersive series of linked scenarios for the Middle-Earth™ Strategy Battle Game driven by an extraordinary narrative that is unique to every player who sets foot on the battlefield. This Battle Companies event allows your unique group of warriors to develop and grow in experience over the course of six games. There are few finer moments than watching your Battle Company evolve – glorious heroes of Good create fresh tales of daring and valour, as fell champions of the The Dark Lord rise up from darkened pits beneath the lands. Lament the passing of those who fall to ruinous injuries and revel in the glory of the few who ascend to the ranks of mighty heroes of Middle-earth!

For those who don’t know, Throne of Skulls is a matched play tournament for the casual gamer. Players are encouraged to embrace all aspects of the hobby at this event – savvy generalship, astute knowledge of the game, consistent and coherently painted armies, and an attitude overflowing with good cheer and sincerity. This means sportsmanship and well-presented armies go hand in hand with the results from your games to crown the overall winner. If you want to see wonderfully painted armies and tactical nous going hand in hand with outstanding sportsmanship, this is the event for you.

Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire has been fantastically popular since its release, and with copies still vanishing off shelves all over the world, we knew it was only right and proper that Warhammer Fest should host a Grand Clash. You can expect to see the very best in the country turn out for this event as decks are being furiously tested in Organised Play events at stores all across the land. With a matched play format that requires each player to play each opponent up to three times, while recording not only victories but losses and glory difference, only the best (or luckiest) warband leader will survive the perils of the Mirrored City.

This year Spike! Magazine has generously offered to sponsor our yearly Blood Bowl competition. As the rewards for head coaches go beyond mere material value when it comes to the fame and notoriety that Spike! Magazine can provide, only the very best teams will be in attendance. To represent this, each head coach has more gold than usual to recruit their team – and they receive a selection of free skills for their players to boot! This means you can expect truly professional teams and even sharper head coaches for the most spectacular display of brutality around. You won’t want to miss this, as there are fewer displays of skill and brutal, unconditional violence in all of Nuffle’s domain.

So, that’s the lineup of events, and to say that we are looking forward to it is something of an understatement – it will be the largest gaming event Games Workshop has ever hosted and it’s going to be a blinder!

So what are you waiting for? Get your tickets while you can and we’ll see you there!

Thanks, John! Tickets for the Blood Bowl, Warhammer Age of Sigmar and Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire events are on sale now, with Battle Companies tickets available soon.

If you just fancy coming along and enjoying the atmosphere at Warhammer Fest, tickets for Saturday, Sunday (which includes Golden Demon judging!) and the whole weekend are also available now.
