Power Up (and Down!)

The latest edition of Warhammer 40,000 has something for everyone, from tournament gamers to narrative storytellers. However you play, our hard-working studio team are ensuring you have the choice to balance your games, whether you’re enjoying the granularity of points or the ease and simplicity of Power Ratings. With the new edition shaking up the status quo, the Warhammer Studio has updated the points values – now, it’s time for Power to have its turn!

The new edition is a truly seismic change for the game, and so it represented the perfect time to look at Power – after all, this system isn’t just for building lists but has a bearing on all modes of play with Stratagems, psychic powers and more drawing from it.

Because of changes to the core engine of the Warhammer 40,000 game, some units are now relatively much better than they used to be, and so have had their Power Rating increased. Others have had their Power lowered so you can take more of them in your army.

Of course, one of the main uses for Power Ratings in the new Warhammer 40,000 is building a Crusade army – an ever-growing, ever-evolving narrative force that you can use in thrilling campaigns! Crusade already provides you with an incredible narrative experience, with additional Relics, Character development and more – now, with Power Ratings updated, you can ensure it’s a fair and balanced way to battle, too.*

These updates will be available to download online, and we’ll be automatically adding them to the Warhammer 40,000 app – if you have an Android device, these updates should be available now and they’ll be showing up for iOS devices over the next day or so.

Now you can start your Crusade!

You can download the first set of Power Rating updates from the FAQs and Useful Things page. When you get there, you’ll also find the first FAQ for the Warhammer 40,000 Core Book and Chapter Approved. Remember, we’re always looking for feedback – email your thoughts to us at [email protected]. Have you subscribed to Warhammer 40,000: The App yet?
