Warhammer 40,000: Forgebane – Pre-order Now

The Adeptus Mechanicus and Necrons are a fascinating pairing. The former trawl the galaxy for technological treasures that they can capture and study, while the latter are an entire race of mechanical horrors, last remnants of a long-dead race who turned to advanced technology (and treacherous star gods) to grant them eternal life.

And the two are also the featured forces in a brand new Warhammer 40,000 boxed set that you can pre-order now!

Forgebane is a new way to get started playing Warhammer 40,000, or to start (or expand) Adeptus Mechanicus and Necrons armies. It contains 27 Citadel miniatures, which include, excitingly, two brand new kits. For the Necrons, there’s a plastic Cryptek, a high technologist of the dynasties, armed with a staff of light, wearing a Canoptek cloak and with a unique new feature – a six-legged Canoptek creature that’s also part of his cloak and allows him to fly! He leads a force of 5 Immortals, 5 Lychguard and 3 Canoptek Wraiths – a sinister and elite start to any force of Necrons.

The Adeptus Mechanicus has a new unit as well, and they’re something very special indeed – brand new Imperial Knights! Called Armiger Warglaives, they’re smaller than the existing Imperial Knights – almost like the hounds to the Knights’ huntsmen, and two of them come in the box. Each is armed with a thermal spear and reaper chain-cleaver – both of which can fit on either arm to increase customisation options – plus a choice of heavy stubber or meltagun. They’re styled to match the Imperial Knight kit and are great centrepieces for the force in the box, which also consists of a Tech-Priest Dominus and 10 Skitarii Rangers.

The box contains everything you need to start gaming with your new models. There is a fold-out version of the 8-page Warhammer 40,000 core rules, alongside a 40-page softcover book that introduces the two factions, provides background on the war they’re fighting and three missions to play with your forces – not to mention rules for linking them into a mini-campaign and, of course, datasheets for all the units in the box. There are also colour schemes for different Adeptus Mechanicus forge worlds and Necron dynasties, plus imagery for Armiger Warglaives in the colours of House Raven, to give you some painting ideas.

Forgebane will be in stores next week, and you can pre-order your copy now.
